You hate seeing places like this go. The owner of this shoe stand blares zydeco music while he works, thereby bringing a little bit of soul to this neck of the Skyway in downtown. Now he's being forced out to make way for a faux boutique hotel owned by a huge corporate conglomerate. I guarantee they won't build anything that has this much soul.

A far cry from the down and dirty pho places around town. And I do mean dirty. Although, I think those places have better pho. So I'll still go to those places. Not tossing out my Wet Wipes just yet.

HOSPITAL-ITY

Children's Hospital - Minneapolis, MN My son had his tonsils and adenoids removed today. It was strange watching him go under. Hard not to tear up a little. He was so trusting. So brave. I fear now he'll never want to go to the doctor again. Can't blame him. If I went to sleep and woke up with tubes coming out of me and my throat felt like it was just buffed with sandpaper, I'd be cautious, too.
