NO KETCHUP

Louis' Lunch - New Haven, Connecticut
Had a burger at this place on our way to Manhattan from Southbury.
Beautiful drive, BTW. Very cool place. Apparently the hamburger was
invented here. You could fit all of 12 people in the joint. They
cooked the burgers in these antique cast iron broilers that look like
they've been running since the place opened in 1896. Every burger is
cooked rare and served on toast with an onion and a tomato and cheese
if you want it. But don't ask for ketchup or they'll kick you out.
Honestly it could have used a dab of Heinz, but I was too impressed
with this place to care. So much soul and history. Every wood surface
was carved up with initials. Killer.
