GETTING PERSPECTIVE

University of Minnesota, Physics Building Observatory -
Minneapolis, MN
Saturday night the sky was clear and sparkling. The chill air bit
through your coat. And the roof of the Physics building at the U of M
was the place to be. Unless kindergarteners freak you out. One of the
parents from my daughters kindergarten class is a graduate student in
astophysics and offered to have the whole class up to the observatory
to look at the moon and stars. We were able to see Jupiter even. It
looked like the moon. A crecent sliver of light. The moon was so big
you could only see a tiny part of it in the main telescope. Very cool
for parents and kids alike. The telescope and dome were from the
1890's. Can't believe they don't have a better one after 110 years.
